Short term missions

Short-term missions are an exciting opportunity to do and see God's work in different places.
A short-term mission team member is an ambassador not just for our church but for Christ.
The following information is pertinent to your participation in Church of Southland's short term missions.

Requirements for applying

A short-term mission applicant must be a member of the Church of Southland. A member of Southland is defined as actively meeting the following requirements:
  1. Currently attending Church of Southland for at least one year
  2. Regular attendance of Sunday Worship
  3. Regular attendance of cell group
  4. Regular tithing
  5. Completed Experiencing God discipleship
  6. Attended Encounter Retreat
  7. Fully vaccinated for Covid
Applicants must also provide two (2) references, provided in the application.
* College Students - Experiencing God discipleship and Encounter Retreat are not required however a reference from our college pastor is required.

Expectations

To help prepare their minds and hearts, all team members are expected to participate in the following:
  • 3 Mandatory Sunday Trainings 1 PM - 5 PM; 2/19, 3/12, 4/16
  • Large Group Activities
  • Short-term teams are expected to attend these activities together:
    • Weekly team trainings
    • Friday Night Worship
    • AWANA
    • SET/Evangelism
*NOTE: if you cannot attend any of the listed activities, absences will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please speak to someone from the missions committee.

Short Term Trips for 2023 (subject to change)

  • Guatemala - May 5-13 (9 days) 
  • Indonesia - May 18-30 (13 days)
  • Japan - June 7-20 (14 days)
  • South Bay - July 7-15 (9 days)
