99 Days to Pentecost: Day 57
Day 57 - April 11, 2021
Hebrews 4:11 (Read Full Chapter)
“Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience..”
“To Enter Rest”
Written by Pastor John Lee
I wonder what brings you satisfying rest?
Did you know that God’s promises lead us to enter His rest?
Throughout Hebrews 4 we are reminded that God’s promise for rest has always been made accessible to His people. However, since the days of Exodus, the people failed to receive this rest due to their disobedience. This disobedience was a symptom of their hearts inability to trust in God’s promises.
The rest mentioned here, derived from sabbath, is not the absence of work but the acknowledgment of God’s worthy work. Hebrews 4 calls us to reassess our work and what we’ve been obedient to – to remember that God’s rest is far more satisfying and His plans are far more worthy of our time, focus, and resources. So how can we enter His rest today?
1. Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts (v.7, Ps 95:7-8)
2. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (v.16)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your constant kingship in my life. Thank you for leading me and guiding my heart, mind, and soul. LORD may you discern and soften my heart to hear your voice. May I approach your throne of grace with confidence and enter your rest today. In the precious name of Jesus’ we pray, amen.
