99 Days to Pentecost: Day 86

Day 86 - May 10, 2021

Acts 15:10-11 (Read Full Chapter)
10 Since this is the case, why are you putting God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our forefathers nor we have been able to bear? 11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”

“United In Christ”
Written by Pastor Seong Hwang

The body of Christ is united because of Jesus. However, those who opposed Paul and Barnabas were Christians who had been Pharisees. They still believed Gentiles must become Jews first to be saved. They were teaching work-based salvation, requiring circumcision. At the Jerusalem Council, the apostles and elders clarified that there is no distinction between Jews and Gentiles, as God purified every heart by faith. Thank God for our early church fathers who courageously stood for truth rather than tradition or religiosity.

It is for freedom that Christ set us free! Yet many of us still hold on to our old beliefs, habits, and distorted principles. Could we take some time to reflect and see what heavy yoke we put on in our Christian walk?

Take time to reread Acts 15 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
