99 Days to Pentecost: Day 76

Day 76 - April 30, 2021

Acts 5:41b (Read Full Chapter)
...rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

“I Can”
Written by Pastor Won Kim

I’m not there. I might be able to suffer “shame” for His name, but I wouldn’t like it, let alone rejoice in it. I would hate being “flogged”, and even though I may not curse on the outside, I would curse in my heart. I would like to be considered “worthy”, but I wouldn’t rejoice under those circumstances. I know this because it’s difficult enough for me to live for Christ, especially in Orange County. So, how could I die for Him?

There are those of us who say that they would be able to joyfully approach such suffering, but let us be careful to not deceive ourselves. The reason we can’t do it is because we’re not righteous enough on our own. This kind of love and devotion is something we can’t fake. The only way that it can be done is through His Spirit. His Spirit in us. What a tremendous Spirit that is. A Spirit that elicits rejoicing that we should be considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Take time to reread Acts 5 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
