1 Finally then, brothers and sisters, we request and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel even more.
“10,000 Hours”

Malcom Gladwell wrote in his book, “Outliers” about how those who excel at the top of their field can be correlated with having poured in “10,000 hours of practice”. While this has been pursued as a model as well as contested and debated for its legitimacy, there is something to be said about unrelenting refinement.
What does 10,000 hours in prayer, in reading the Bible, in relationship with God bear fruit to?
Paul calls for the Thessalonians to continue to walk as they already have been and to “excel even more”. May we ourselves keep humility in our faith in living for God and being refined more and more. May we never reach a point of thinking that we have “spiritually arrived” or “having been Christian enough” where we stop in growing and excelling before God.
