But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you...

Acts provides the transition from the ministry of Jesus (the Gospels) to the acts of the Apostles (or more like the Acts of the Holy Spirit). The resurrected Jesus has appeared before His disciples. They ask a peculiar question about the Kingdom of Israel. Jesus responds in verse 7 and 8. The disciples sought an answer - clarity for what will happen. Jesus responds with a promise. The promise of the Holy Spirit who will be present and empower the disciples to join God in His work.
When we seek the Lord, do we want clarity in the plans or do we want His presence and the power that comes from it?
Take time to reread Acts 1 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
