Day 58 - April 12, 2021

Hebrews 5:7 (Read Full Chapter)
7 In the days of His humanity, He offered up both prayers and pleas with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His devout behavior.

“Perfect Mercy”
Written by Pastor John Lee

My father once shared a story about one of his greatest failures. He had gone into business with the wrong people in his 20’s and became indebted to them. He was harassed and pressured by them until he was wrongfully taken into custody. Soon after, my grandfather caught wind of the situation and immediately went to my father in prison.

My grandfather walked in and bailed my father out. He then fully paid off my father’s debt. Afterwards, my grandfather simply asked my father, “Will you be okay?” No other words were shared about the matter - all was forgiven and restored without further explanation needed. That was the moment my father realized and experienced just how loving and capable his father was.

Likewise, could we remember or realize the perfect mercy and power of Jesus as our high priest? Hebrews 2:17 says that Jesus became human to become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God. Jesus, as the high priest, accomplished what no one else could do. More so, Jesus did it at a cost that no one else could pay. He obeyed the Father to the point of death through His willing submission to God’s will. Therefore, Jesus became perfect – the source of eternal salvation for all who believe in Him. Would you confidently lean into Jesus who is merciful, faithful, and fully capable today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being the perfect high priest that reveals perfect mercy, love, obedience, and faithfulness. I thank You and praise You for the salvation that I have in You. May I never lose the wonder of Your mercy. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.
